Hello dear friends,
You may have wondered where the heck Iāve been and what life has looked like these past couple of months. After thirty wonderful years in Miami, I closed that chapter and have embraced a beautiful new beginning in Kentucky (where I grew up!). My heart is full of gratitude for the blessings that come with change, even when it arrives wrapped in challenge.
Recently, my mom experienced a stroke. By Godās grace, she is stable and embarking on a journey of rehabilitation. I feel honored to walk beside her in this new season of life. Each day brings fresh discoveriesānot just in caregiving, but in learning a different rhythm of living. Together, weāre stepping into the unknown, cultivating trust, strength, and a renewed sense of purpose.
In these times, Iāve learned something essential: before we can lift others, we must hold ourselves up. The quiet moments pausing for breath, allowing tears to flow, sitting in reflection have become sacred. In these pauses, I re-charge my heart and center my spirit. And I want you to know that feeling vulnerable doesnāt mean youāre falling apart it means you're being human.
Caregiving carries emotional and physical weight, often leaving caregivers exhausted or overwhelmed. Yet it also opens doors to gratitude and meaning that outlast the hardship. Research shows practicing gratitude like writing down three things youāre thankful for daily leads to improved sleep, reduced anxiety, greater optimism, and better overall well-being (time.com).
In this new chapter of our lives, I see blessings tucked between the moments of uncertainty:
The gift of closenessāstrengthening bonds and being present together.
The power of perspectiveārecognizing how much goodness still exists.
The reminder that healing unfolds gentlyāone breath, one step, one day at a time.
True resilience isnāt built from perfection itās built from showing up. When life is messy or unclear, presence heals. When we lean into support from community, prayer, or simple kindness we grow stronger together.
So today, I invite you to pause and ask yourself: What small act of care or clarity can your future self thank you for?
An encouraging word, a moment of grace, a quiet breath...these become the building blocks of a life lived with purpose and hope.
Iām here, navigating this new journey with open eyes and an open heart. And Iām so grateful to have you with me.
With warmth and blessings,
Janisšø
